I have created these four pieces of untitled work in the form of ‘assemblage’ art. This type of 3D composition is an artistic process that marries up various objects and mediums that are placed together out of context. The origin of the word (in its artistic sense) can be traced back to the early 1950’s.
I have placed pencil drawings with oil, pastel, charcoal and watercolour, alongside digital photographs, the old school art boards have been used in contrast to the new perspex boxes. I have chosen a theme of flowers and have strategically placed a piece of dolls house furniture (painted black) on the images to create a focal point.
There is always something rather unsatisfying about a ‘finished’ piece of work - there is always something that can be altered or changed – the work never seems to sit still. Consequently after completion I often dismantle, tear up or re-work the images in order to form a newer piece.
Inspired by artists - Louise Nevelson, Joseph Cornel.
